Outcome 8: Use communication theory to analyze and evaluate individual, group and mass media messages for how they work and for their consequences.

This paper is one I am very proud of, and is one of the better-written pieces I have produced. This essay examines articles, chapters, and movie scenes to identify and explain various ways visual media and mass media influence our perceptions and understanding of oneself, others, and the world around us. Using statistics, studies, and integrating McCombs and Shaw’s (1972) the Agenda Setting Theory, this article elaborates on methods of pressure and persuasion presented to media consumers, as well as different ways and factors that may have an impact on viewers.
